New camera for more pet adoptions!

Tax deductible
Why is America’s oldest animal shelter asking for a nice new camera? Because with ever more people picking pets online, photography has become immensely important when it comes to getting animals adopted. At some shelters, a great photo can make the difference between life and death for a homeless pet. At others it can mean a quick trip to a happy home instead of many lonely weeks of waiting.

If you’ve ever watched two dogs meet, you’ve noticed that when it comes to canines, the nose knows.  But humans are a visual species (thank goodness) and for us seeing is believing. And as they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Our homeless pets can win the hearts of anyone who comes to meet them, but to get get their future families through the door, they need to stand out from hundreds of other adoptables on Pefinder or Instagram or Adopt-A-Pet or Facebook or the 16th shelter website of the day...

When we were founded, photography was only a few decades old. We’ve long moved on from taking tintypes of tabbies, but while our founder Elizabeth Morris would think the aging smartphone we’re currently using to be nothing short of miraculous, our tech-saavy 21st century pets deserve better. Please donate - and thank you!
