For those of you who don't know me I am Charlotte Turnbull and I am about to turn 30. While the big day draws closer I have been thinking about life and all the things we take for granted. This year is a big year for my family and I, along with me turning 30 we have a lot of other milestone birthdays to celebrate, but unfortunately we aren't all here to celebrate them and this is why I have created this page.
Just over 3 years ago we lost our special angel Emily to suicide. She was sixteen, stunning and with her whole life ahead of her. She however felt differently and took her own life. There is not a day that goes by that we don't miss her. She always wore the biggest smile and she was extremely well loved by friends and family. She just had the most infectious personality and would always go out of her way to help anyone. She was our queen of the pout and selfie and could always be found dancing around and making life so much brighter for everyone.
So this year as Emily would have been turning 21 we have decided that we want to do something to help other, just like she did so often. Therefore in her memory, my mum, my sister and I are taking on the challenge of running The Great North Run (Half Marathon). We are running for Young Minds - They are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered whatever the challenges. They are here to make sure they get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.
The crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real and it is urgent. More children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. But for those who take that brave step, help is much too hard to find.
We want to help change this, so by honouring our gorgeous sister/daughter we will train and run The Great North Run. If you could please help us to achieve our goal, donations and shares are gratefully appreciated.
