California Gray Whales are in Crisis as they are literally starving to death! Their population has decreased over 50% in just the last 10 years, from over 27,000 healthy gray whales in 2016 to less than 13,000 gray whales today. The main cause of this tragic decline is warming ocean temperatures which have caused a massive loss of sea ice in the Arctic which in turn has caused the gray whales main food source, arthropods, a small shrimp like crustacean, to crash.
In order to help save the gray whales, the first step is to get them listed on the "IUCN Red List ofThreatened Species" and we are producing a short film, "Gray Whales in Crisis", to do just that.
Our President & Founder, Jeff Pantukhoff, will be attending the upcoming meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) this fall which is in Hobart, Australia, and will present "Gray Whales in Crisis" to get the IWC Scientific Committee to recommend adding the Gray Whale to the IUCN Red List.
We need to raise $10,000 to help complete the film and for travel expenses to travel to Hobart, Australia to attend the IWC meeting which is September 28 - October 3, 2026.
All donations to this worthy effort are tax deductible so please help us save California Gray Whales by donating today.
