Grateful Christmas

“GRATEFUL CHRISTMAS.”

My name Alexis Tsaju, I grew up in a small-town call Bertoua in Cameroon located in Central Africa. Since I was a kid, I learned the importance of helping others.  My greatest teacher was my mom always reminding me to share with others what we have. We didn’t have much but we were always willing to help other members in my community. Growing up I helped my elder neighbors to clean the floors and do chores for others as a kid this was pretty fun.

Once I had the chance to come to the USA I brought those values with me. Giving back to those in need is something that I carry with me so dearly. Two years ago, I started a fundraising campaign with people that were close to my circles, friends, classmates, professors, neighbors, you name it. All of these people were on board. We raise some money to help an orphanage back home to feed the kids on new year eve. Seeing those kids smiles and excitement on a video call filled my heart with joy.

For me, family is very important and not everyone has the opportunity to experience that. This is the reason I am eager to help this orphanage back home. I want to care for these kids at least during these holidays. I believe that everyone has a power to give hope to someone else's life with a simple act of kindness, and it is what our world needs right now.

I know this year has been such a tough one for all of us. Many people have been personally battling with this virus. So many have experienced economic hardship, lived through isolation being separated from our loved ones and the list goes on. We would go through this together.

When I think about my personal life during this year, I think about how blessed I had been by all the people around me. I am empowered by your random act of kindness and I want to do the same for all those kids that need support back home.

This year I decided to do it again on a bigger scale. No matter how small it is, if you are able, please join me in making a difference in these kids' lives. Any amount will have a huge impact on the success of these kids. This is the reason I am calling for your support to make this happen

Thank you for your support,

Alexis Dountio Tsaju
