Grant's legal fees and roof repair

Hi I am Grant Davis. I have never asked anything like this before.
16 yrs ago I began my first long term relationship at age 46. Being my first and only relationship I believed you gave it everything you have. I sold my beautiful condo in California, cashed in my retirement and inheritance from my father and invested it all into property my new partner was trying to buy and build on on the Big Island of Hawaii. All these years I paid for everything: the property, construction and dwelling, all our bills, food, medical insurance and cars. I worked long hours each day as a health care provider to make ends meet. Eight years later he got on disability and did not need my support so he left the relationship.
Years before and during the separation he had me sign papers that I did not fully understand. Everything was written so I pay him for the land over and above what it is worth and all legal fees (his and mine). He has not lived on the land for over 5 yrs and is presently trying to foreclose and take everything from me. I am about to lose everything unless I can continue paying for legal fees to fight back. I will lose the land with my home. I also will be paying him for the rest of my life if he gets away with it.
A couple of my friends have moved ahead and found an attorney for me with their own money and efforts. One friend fronted the initial $3,500 to hire the attorney. I was told by attorney it could cost as much as $20,000 more to fight this case so I can keep my home. I was foolish and naive believing my ex was honest and fair person and had both our interests in mind. Now I know he used me and coerced me into signing all the documents in his favor.
Before I realized I didn’t have to do it, I borrowed against the land and gave him all I had. I cannot get another loan till existing one is paid off. Now I need help to defend myself and save my home.
I also have been the sole caretaker of the land with absolutely no finances from him, ever. Last month a strong wind storm tore off a portion of my roof and I had to tarp it with help of neighbors to protect my belongings. I have exhausted all my possibilities of loans for repairs along with the legal fees.
Looks like about $15,000 bill to repair the roof. Legal fees could be as high as $20,000.
As hard as it is to ask, I am grateful for any contribution, none too big or too small. If you read my story, regardless of any financial help, I thank you for taking the time and for your good thoughts.
