<img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54403930_1612465724701236_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="54403930_1612465724701236_r.jpeg" />In the early morning of January 31st, our father Saul Chavez Muniz was tragically taken from us, our father was sadly a victim in an accident caused by a suspected drunk driver. Our father had just come home from a long week of working in Santa Rosa, and was just trying to enjoy his time off. That night he didn't come home we began to worry because we knew that wasn't like my dad, he always made it back home, especially since he knew Sunday morning he had plans with his children. The ironic part of this horrible situation is our dad was the most responsible when it came to drinking and NOT driving, always was against it. He wanted to protect himself and others while on the road. In the last couple of days we have been dealing with the loss of our old man, and amazing grandpa (papa) as the kids would call him. We know this will never get easier, and we will not stop missing the random calls that turned into hours or the dad jokes he always told, or the way he could whistle a whole song without stopping, the way he smelled, the “no estan bien”, the way he loved his grandkids and always wanted them at his house, the way he would blow us up if we were not at his house by noon on Sundays. Our dad’s life was cut short but he knew he was loved, my dad always made us promise that he would return to his hometown of Puruaran, Michoacan, Mexico at the time of his death. His last wish was to return to rest with his mom and dad that he loved so much, and with that being said now with the knot in our throats and our heart in our hands, we ask for help with the expenses in transporting him back, and helping his children join him in his route back to his last resting place. Our dad is survived by his children, grandkids, sisters, brothers, &amp; many nephews and nieces.  Saul Chavez was born in Puruaran, Michoacan Mexico, on February 23rd 1968. At 17 years old he made the journey from Mexico to the United States. He first came to Arvin, CA. with a couple travelers, and with nothing to his name, he made his way into working in the fields to make a living and still send money back to his mother.  At the age of 24 he became a first time dad, had his little girl Cynthia, he decided then to continue his journey and get his Commercial Driver License, and that's when his love for truck driving started. He accomplished purchasing his first home at 33 years old. He continued to work as a truck driver for many years, eventually he would have his first son Saul Bryan at the age of 26, another son Edgar at 31, and his last son Salvador at 38. The many memories we have with him are accompanying him on his truck for days. He just loved having his kids with him to show him the livestock throughout the way, or the beautiful places he would be traveling through. At the age of 46 he decided to thrive into becoming a Heavy Equipment Operator which is something he was so proud of, and had become his new passion. He was the most humble and hardworking man that you could ever meet.  He began a tradition early on with his children to go back and visit his mother and family back in Mexico during summer vacations, and during the holidays. His love for going back to Mexico never stopped, he had a love for Mexican food like no other, he would always make it his goal to take time off to spend time with his family at least once or twice every year in Mexico. Lastly, even though he will physically be in Mexico, where he chose to rest, he will always have a piece of his heart in the United States. Our goal as his children is to continue his traditions and visit him whenever we can, and not forget his roots. We have an angel watching over us and we will never forget him, his lessons &amp; endless love.  En la madrugada del 31 de enero, nuestro padre Saúl Chávez Muniz nos fue arrebatado trágicamente, nuestro padre fue tristemente víctima de un accidente causado por un presunto conductor ebrio. Nuestro padre acababa de llegar a casa después de una larga semana de trabajo en Santa Rosa y estaba tratando de disfrutar de su tiempo libre. Esa noche que no regresó a casa nos empezamos a preocupar porque sabíamos que no era como mi papá, él siempre regresaba a casa, sobre todo porque sabía que el domingo por la mañana tenía planes con sus hijos. La parte irónica de esta horrible situación es que nuestro padre siempre estuvo en contra de beber y conducir, siempre quiso protegerse a sí mismo y a los demás mientras viajaba. En los últimos días hemos estado lidiando con la pérdida de nuestro viejo, y del asombroso abuelo (papá), como lo llamarían los niños. Sabemos que esto nunca será más fácil y no dejaremos de extrañar las llamadas con el que se convirtieron en horas o las bromas de papá que siempre contaba, o la forma en que podía chiflar una canción entera sin parar, la forma en que él olía, el “no están bien ”, la forma en que amaba a sus nietos y siempre los quiso en su casa, la forma en que nos llamaba si no estuviéramos en su casa al mediodía los domingos. La vida de mi papá se terminó pero él sabía que lo amaban, mi papá siempre nos hizo prometer que regresaría a su ciudad natal de Puruarán, Michoacán, México al momento de su muerte. Su último deseo era volver a descansar con su mamá y su papá que tanto amaba, y dicho eso ahora con el nudo en la garganta y el corazón en las manos, pedimos ayuda con los gastos para transportarlo de regreso. y ayudar a sus hijos a unirse a él en su ruta de regreso a su último lugar de descanso. A nuestro padre le sobreviven sus hijos, nietos, hermanas, hermanos y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas.  Saúl Chávez nació en Puruarán, Michoacán México, el 23 de febrero de 1968. A los 17 años hizo el viaje de México a Estados Unidos. Llegó por primera vez a Arvin, CA. con un par de viajeros, y sin nada a su nombre, se abrió camino a trabajar en el campo para ganarse la vida y aún enviar dinero a su madre. A los 24 años se convirtió en papá por primera vez, tuvo a su pequeña Cynthia, decidió entonces continuar su viaje y obtener su Licencia de Conducir Comercial, y ahí fue cuando comenzó su amor por la conducción de camiones. Logró comprar su primera casa a los 33 años. Continuó trabajando como camionero durante muchos años, eventualmente tendría a su primer hijo Saul Bryan a los 26 años, otro hijo Edgar a los 31, y su último hijo Salvador a los 38. Los muchos recuerdos que tenemos con él como acompañándolo a él en su camión durante días. Le encantaba tener a sus hijos con él para mostrarle el ganado a lo largo del camino, o los hermosos lugares por los que estaría viajando. A la edad de 46 años decidió prosperar para convertirse en operador de equipo pesado, algo de lo que estaba tan orgulloso y que se había convertido en su nueva pasión. Era el hombre más humilde y trabajador que jamás hayas conocido.  Comenzó una tradición desde el principio con sus hijos de regresar y visitar a su madre y su familia en México durante las vacaciones de verano y durante los días festivos. Su amor por regresar a México nunca se detuvo, tenía un amor por la comida mexicana como ningún otro, siempre tenía como meta tomarse un tiempo libre para pasar tiempo con su familia al menos una o dos veces al año en México. Por último, aunque físicamente estará en México, donde eligió descansar, siempre tendrá un pedazo de su corazón en Estados Unidos. Nuestro objetivo como hijos suyos es continuar con sus tradiciones y visitarlo siempre que podamos, sin olvidar sus raíces.
