Get Grandmother (Ramona) walking again!

Con nuestro corazón en las manos les contamos la historia de nuestra Abuelita Ramona y el motivo por el cual comenzamos esta campaña de recolectar fondos para un ser especial como es una Abuela.

Ramona Palma, de 84 años, con 6 hijos, 13 nietos y 13 bisnietos. Nacida en el estado Bolívar, Venezuela. Lucida, alegre (aunque ya no tanto), buena conversadora, mujer de fe cristiana, optimista, emprendedora, luchadora y con muchos deseos de seguir viviendo...

1.- Qué fue lo que paso?
Las piernas no le respondieron y tuvo una caída sobre sus propios pies, lesionandose la cadera (fractura) y la pierna del lado izquierdo, esto se debe a que es producto de una enfermedad degenerativa diagnosticada hace más de 10 años, llamada "Osteopenia y Osteoartrosis", lo que trae como consecuencia debilidad en las extremidades inferiores, lo que hace la proclive a riesgo de caídas. A raíz de la caída, la pierna izquierda hizo un giro de 45 grados hacia afuera, lo cual dificulta la posibilidad de caminar.


2.- El tratamiento recomendado
El Traumatólogo le indicó intervención quirúrgica , ya que se trata de FRACTURA INTERTROCANTÉRICA de cadera izquierda, ya que es la via mas expedita para solucionar la fractura. Es la via mas segura y confiable colocar una prótesis a nivel de cadera (Parcial de THOMPSON). La lesión en la cadera compromete el caminar.


3.- ¿Cuán pronto se necesitan los Fondos?
A la mayor prontitud posible. Se está formando un callo a nivel de cadera, si no se corrige a tiempo podría complicar efectuar la cirugía y enderezar la pierna izquierda. El estar permanentemente en cama  trae múltiples consecuencias indeseables como infecciones en vías urinarias, afecciones de la piel y endurecimiento de los miembros inferiores.


4.- ¿Cómo los Fondos ayudarían?
Ayudarían a recuperar la posibilidad de caminar. Aun con 84 años, Ramona es una mujer con muchos deseos de vivir, ayudarían a mejorar su calidad de vida. Es darle otra oportunidad de valerse por sí misma. En la cama tiene que hacer todas sus necesidades fisiológicas, asistida por una tercera persona.

La situación social y económica en Venezuela es muy complicada, no hay apoyo económico ni de salud por parte del estado para poder costear la operación quirúrgica.
 
El costo de la intervención + prótesis es de $3000 dólares, adicionalmente se necesita adquirir un concentrado globular del cual aún no tenemos el precio. Si usted puede ayudar contribuyendo a esta causa se lo agradecemos enormemente, cualquier aporte será altamente apreciado, .

Ramona Palma, 84, with 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Born in the state of Bolívar, Venezuela. She is a happy person, a good conversationalist, woman of Christian faith, optimistic, enterprising, fighter and with many desires to continue living ...


1.- What happened?

Her legs do not respond as a result of her fall on her own feet, injuring he hip (fracture) and her left leg. These all happened, because she has a degenerative disease diagnosed more than 10 years ago, called "Osteopenia and Osteoarthrosis ", which results in weakness in the lower extremities, which makes them prone to risk of falls. As a result of the fall, her left leg turned 45 degrees outward, making it difficult to walk.



2.- The recommended treatment

The Traumatologist indicated surgical intervention due to an INTERTROCHANTERIC FRACTURE on her left hip, therefore it is the most expeditious way to solve the fracture. It is the safest and most reliable way to place a prosthesis at the hip level (Partial THOMPSON). The hip injury compromises her walk.



3.- How soon are the funds needed?

As soon as possible. A callous is forming at the hip, if it is not corrected in time, it could complicate the surgery and straighten her left leg. Being permanently in bed brings multiple undesirable consequences such as urinary tract infections, skin conditions and stiffening of the lower limbs.



4.- How would the Funds help?

They would help regain the ability to walk our Grandmother. Ramona 84 years old is a woman with many desires to live, all the funds would help improve her quality of life. It will give her another chance to be an independent person. In bed she has to do all her physiological needs, assisted by a third person.


The social and economic situation in Venezuela is very complicated, there is no economic or health support from the state to pay for the surgical operation.


The cost of the intervention + prosthesis is $ 3000, additionally it is necessary to acquire a globular concentrate for which we still do not have the price. If you can help by contributing to this cause we greatly appreciate it, any contribution will be highly appreciated.
