A few years ago, my grandmother was diagnosed with Dementia. She was still able to care for herself for a while until about a year ago when she had a rapid decline and was admitted into the hospital. She went into Sepsis several times over the course of the week was admitted, came down with MRSA, and ever since that event she has been on a rapid acceleration into her current state. After that event, she was recommended to go into a nursing home but was declined. My gracious mother brought her into her home to care for her for this last year. My grandmother has rapidly declined again to the point where she needs 24/7 care at a memory/dementia specialty nursing facility. She becomes physically violent, cannot get around or perform anything beyond a toddlers level. She’s nearly set my moms house on fire on several occasions, wanders off outside the house when she is able to get up, and just overall a danger to herself and others. On Friday, she was taken back to the hospital for hallucinations that have been persistent for several days. They placed her temporarily in a place until we can sort out the legal aspects of it. She’s been there at this moment less than 24 hours and has already attacked a nurse and has tried to escape. Social services stepped in and insist on placing her into a care facility although this is financial issue but needs to happen for her safety. We are in contact with a lawyer to help get her into a place that would benefit her needs. It hurts us greatly to have to this, but its no longer an matter of opinion but a matter of her health. We greatly appreciate anything that could help us make this happen. If anything else, we ask for prayers. We have a month to get this figured out. Thank you so much.
