Misty and her 4-year-old grandson are facing an unimaginable crisis. After suffering four heart attacks this summer and undergoing heart surgery, Misty has been left unable to work. She has always been a hard worker, but her severe heart condition now makes employment impossible. On top of her own health struggles, Misty has temporary custody of her young grandson, who is showing signs of severe Autism Spectrum Disorder but has not yet received an official diagnosis. This means he is not eligible for specialized assistance or funding, making their situation even more challenging.

 Their living situation took a devastating turn when a car crashed into the house where they were staying, forcing them to leave. With nowhere else to go, they received temporary help from the Red Cross and were placed in a hotel. Unfortunately, the family support they once had has disappeared, and the funding for their hotel stay is ending this Friday. Without immediate help, Misty and her grandson will be homeless in the middle of winter.

 We are working tirelessly to help Misty navigate and expedite her disability and social security applications, connect with legal aid to secure custody, and work with local agencies to get her grandson the diagnosis and support he needs.
