Grams/Latham Hurricane Recovery

Donation protected
Hurricane Harvey hit close to home for my family.  My niece, Ashley Grams Latham , her husband, Clay Latham, and their family lost everything -- their home, clothes, cars, kids' toys, mementos -- and they don't have flood insurance.  Like many in Houston, they were led to believe that they would be safe and should shelter in place.  Sunday night was particularly frightening for them, as they huddled in their small boat in their garage, life preservers on their four year old daughter and two year old twin daughters. Joining Ashley, Clay, and the kids in the boat were their two cats and their dog.  When morning finally arrived, they were rescued by raft and taken to safe ground.

My sister, Patti, and her husband, Norm, moved from Ohio a couple of years ago to be with their daughter and grandchildren.  Patti and Norm lost everything to flooding.  They were fortunate the National Guard was able to reach them and take them out via kayak/truck, but not before they had to leave their first floor apartment and seek refuge on the second floor of the building.  Their car was left submerged in the apartment complex lawn, where they had moved it hoping that the water would not reach that far, and it is a total loss.

So many people have suffered severe losses from this catastrophic event.  I hope you can find it in your heart to donate to help this young family and my retired sister and her husband recover from their losses.  Ashley and Clay have no flood insurance, and will need to basically gut their home and rebuild.  That means tearing out drywall, drying the studs and walls, throwing away flooring and furniture and replacing it, new appliances, clothing, and other essentials.  Reconstruction will take thousands of dollars, probably more than what I have set as a goal here.  If you have ever remodeled a home, you know how expensive it can be.  Their vehicles were also submerged in the waters, and they will need to replace these.  Patti and Norm will have to replace their furniture and their car. If you can find it in your heart to help a family struggling with the aftermath of this catastrophe, please donate.
