Kim's Medical Bills Fund

In the past 35 years Kim has survived Hodgkin's Disease stage 3B cancer of the lymph nodes and two open heart surgeries.  She came through all of them with flying colors! Even a few weeks after her 2nd heart surgery she was back at work for the American Humaine Society doing her dream job as a certified vet tech.  Nothing can keep Kim down!

Mid-December 2014 the common cold became our worst nightmare. Kim ended up with pnuemonia and having 3 different types of bacteria destroy her system. The ICU was able to get her back on the right track and it was looking like she'd be home in time for Christmas.

Because of being on blood thinners due to her artificial & mechanical heart valves Kim has a high risk of bleeding. Kim started bleeding out through the drains they had in her chest. This mystery bleed landed her in a very scary situation. December 26th they had to put 10 units in and miraculously save her life. She needed to be put into paralysis (like a medically induced coma) for about a week to recover and heal from that horrible day.

Since then she has made great strides towards making a full recovery, but it is a long path.  The recovery time estimate for Kim to be back to full health is 6 months to a year. We're about 2 months into that window right now. Things are at a bit of a precipice while we wait for the injuries to her lungs to heal. She needs full support from a breathing vent trach. Once those lung get healthy and happy again things will speed up. It's just a matter of time before she's up chasing her grandchildren and helping animals again.

Now to the nitty gritty... as you can imagine... a month in the ICU, 8+ weeks in vent rehab, and who-knows-how-long at the nursing home all have a hefty cost. They do have insurance, but out of pocket is going to be around $7,000. Not to mention the loss of her income and the reduced income Bruce has while using FMLA a few half days a week to attend meetings with her doctors.

If you are able to contribute and help it would be greatly appreciated.
