Aloha, it's my birthday and I'm graduating and I'm moving to NEW YORK CITY! I have been accepted in to Stella Adler Studio, an acting conservatory that is so very much in line with my ideals. Please help me, Jeff Brackett, fund this exciting new adventure. TL;DR at end :)
I have recently been accepted in to all programs at Stella Adler New York and Los Angeles. After a very long time of deliberating between the two I have decided on NEW YORK. The final callback is here, thank you Rachael and Alex for your support <3 Tuition for the whole thing runs about $22,000 for the two years I will be there. I will be spending every moment working on my craft. Growing my mind through their extensive library, I will dedicate myself entirely to this path. Allowing my body to retain a health through fitness and nourishment. Nurturing my spirit with new experiences, theatre, and glorious opportunities.
For people who have known me a long long time, they know this passion has always guided my trajectory. As lofty as it sounds, I want to reflect humanity's truth through the art of acting and even if you just read this message and nothing more I want to thank you for being there with me while I grow. I hope you feel how much I appreciate you.
If you do decide to fund me for this exciting move to NEW YORK to attend a conservatory, (BTW- I have been dreaming about attending a conservatory pre-millenia!), I want you to feel a sense of responsibility over the part of this path that you are helping me build. You are literally making my dreams come true!
I am starting a big shift very soon and I couldn't be more excited! Here are the exciting things I am attempting to fund. Did I mention I love you? Well, I do! :)
Union. As you might know, I recently have become SAG eligible (meaning I am now eligible to join the Screen Actor's Guild!), which happened after I did the Halloween episode for "Hawai'i five-0" season 7. First off, to join the union it costs quite the bit of money (roughly, $2000 for initiation and roughly $200/ year, it could very well be more now). Second, it protects the actor from weird things in contracts like indefinite use without pay. Being a part of SAG again has always been a dream of mine and I am overflowing with gratitude that it has not been an idle dream. The stage union is Actor's Equity I, however, have not had the good fortune of becoming eligible for that, yet.
Tuition. Which, as you saw, is not cheap. I am going to do everything in my power to get scholarships and grants. It is $5500 a term.
Housing. YUP, it is looking to be quite an interesting quest. I might be couch surfing for a little bit. WE WILL SEE!
Food. Yes, I will need food. However, I am going to take my Math degree and put it to good use and be a cashier at an awesome grocery store :) I think that'll be my ideal survival job. AND TUTORING MATH! of course.
Fitness. I will most certainly attempt to find a place to exercise. It might just be on the floor, but it is the one thing that really keeps me going on the right path. Preferably I will find an awesome affordable gym.
Travel. The unlimited metro pass is $121/ month. This will make traveling to Chelsea, where Stella Adler Studio is located, from where ever I find myself located, easier.
There has also been some exciting auditions in regards to representation, but more on that later!
Anyways, as you can see this is quite the venture. I am more excited to share the news with you than anything. I appreciate any and all the help you have blessed me with (well-wishes count!)
TL;DR - Jeff Brackett is asking for help moving 5000 miles to New York City. Anything and everything helps! Even if it is a hearty Bon Voyage! Things to finance: tuition, housing, and food among other things. Also, he loves you!
