Graduate Art Supplies

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Hazel, I'll be starting my first year at the University of New Mexico in their MFA (Masters in Fine Arts) Sculpture program this upcoming Fall.  I was born in Shelby, Ohio and raised in North Hollywood California, where shortly after graduating high school I attended Grinnell College in Grinnell,IA where I recieved my BA in Anthropology and Studio Art this past May. I've been fortunate enough along the way, to have been able to afford my education thus far with the help of scholarships, good financial aid, student loans and work study.
I've also been fortunate enough as a low-income first generation student, to have such supportive family and friends, who have always pushed me to do something that I love. Its because of them, and my own love for the craft that I spent endless hours in the studio during my undergrad preparing myself, and my portfolio in order to be accepted into a program. And I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to say that I'll be attending this specfic program, as it is is considered one of the best for sculpture.
While I have recieved reduced in-state tution, financial aid, and will be working two jobs, as a TA for an art class, and as a waitress. I unfortantly didn't recieve their grant for supplies which was 1,200. This news has brought a great deal of stress, as I know that with both jobs I will be able to stay alive, but I will however have very little left over for supplies. Having the ideas, but not being able to make them a reality will limit my preformance in the program.
The money raised in this campaign will not be spent haphazardly. Any money donated by you will be used on materials, and tools. As a low-income and first-generation student, I understand that not everyone has the funds to donate to my campaign. But even so, sharing my campaign and spreading the word around will mean so much to me. Thank you so much for reading this, donating to my cause, sharing my situation with others, and for being here with me.
