Prayers for Raylynn and Grace Jackson

Sonja and Scotty are Keysville residents. Scotty has been very active with the Keysville Volunteer Fire department for the last 15 years and he will drop what he is doing to help anyone.  Sonja works for Chesterfield Mental Health and is the nicest person you will ever meet. Their story begins long before today; married in 2008 they wanted to start a family. That came true in March of 2009. Tragedy struck and Sonja suffered a devastating miscarriage in April. Sonja and Scotty didn’t let this break their spirit or faith. After trying for most of the rest of that year they were blessed with a beautiful little boy they named Benjamin Henry. He was their first miracle born in June of 2010.

After getting adjusted to being parents, they decided to expand their family. After trying to conceive for some time, they became pregnant again in October of 2012. Again, tragedy struck and Sonja lost the baby just a few weeks later.  Time went on and although the pain eased, it was still very much there.  After their hearts mended some they attempted again to add another bundle of joy to their family. With great joy they conceived again in November of 2013. The anticipation grew awaiting the arrival of her first doctor’s appointment as heartbreak in the past was very much real to them. Sonja and Scotty prayed for one heartbeat. The day came and with prayers from close family and friends they went to their appointment.  Not only did they hear one healthy heartbeat, they were blessed with two!  Sonja believes that God gave them their two babies back.

Each doctor’s appointment confirmed their prayers had been answered as the pregnancy continued to go well for them. They soon found out they would be blessed with two baby girls.  The third trimester is when the complications began. Baby B’s placenta decided to be low-lying, causing Sonja complications. Three hospital visits over a course of 3 weeks took a lot out of her. She fought to keep the girls in as long as she could. Unfortunately on May 19th the babies were delivered by emergency c-section at St Francis Hospital at only 30 weeks gestation.  Grace Elizabeth was born weighing 2lbs 15.8 and Raylynn Francis was born weighing 3lbs 1.4oz. Their hospital stay would be at least 5-10 weeks in the NICU. At one week old Raylynn developed a very serious bowel infection called Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). She was transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital NICU. Her road to recovery will be a long. Grace was able to be moved to be by her sister’s side as well. We ask for prayers for both girls, Sonja, Scotty and Benjamin.

We will be having a Yard/Bake sale on July 5th 2014 from 7am-11am at the Keysville Volunteer Fire Department. If you would like to donate items for this we will be at the Fire Dept on July 3rd and July 4th at 6pm taking donations. We will have professional photography provided by EMJ Images LLC offering a disk with one photo for $5.00. We will have the choice of a black or white backdrop, as well as an outdoor shot.  There has been a fundraising site established at: http://www.gofundme.com/graceraylynn.

All proceeds will go to assist Sonja and Scotty with any financial burdens from missed work, travel to and from Richmond, and ever growing hospital bills.  If you would like to make a donation other than the Go Fund Me site, you can make them directly to Sonja and Scotty Jackson at BB&T in Keysville VA.
