I have been serving the refugee community for years now; they have a special place in my story and in my heart. I’ve had some great interactions with the women and families I’ve been spending time with these past few years, but sometimes I have extremely specific questions relating to sharing good news, dealing with the cultural and language barrier, etc. A couple years ago I connected with an organization that focuses on serving people from this background. They’ve been on my mind ever since, and after receiving an email from them a couple months ago inviting me to a training session in Michigan, I decided it would be a worthwhile opportunity to attend. The conference will be taking place the first weekend of June, and I’ll be driving up there with 2 friends. I’m trying to support raise about $360 to cover the cost of gas, the hotel, and the price to attend the training session itself.
