Hello, Grace was diagnosed with blood on her brain just after birth. She was admitted to Children's Hospital in the ICU unit as this blood caused her seizures and breathing interruptions. She was treated for 8 days there, then released.
Very shortly thereafter, the symptoms returned, and her brain was not draining spinal fluid, and it was building up in her head. Back to Children's Hospital to surgically insert a drainage packet, and back into ICU to control the symptoms. This procedure did not fix her fluid issue, so she had surgery to install a permanent shunt which we are told will fix this issue.
In total, Grace and her parents Dan and Megan, have spent 21 days and nights with the wonderful doctors and nurses at Children's, 9 of those in the ICU unit. This does not count the hospital stays at Providence in Everett and Skagit County Hospital leading up to the ultimate diagnosis of the issue.
This fund is exclusively for medical costs to Dan and Megan. As you can imagine, there is no limit to what they will do for Grace to be healthy and strong, but the medical costs will be significant and they will be very soon facing the reality of the costs of her treatment.
