Artist in need

Hello Everyone! My name is LaVerne Kemp I’ve been a weaver and fiber artist for 40 years. I create hand-woven, one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories and sell my work at local and out of town art shows and shops. Additionally I am a teacher with the Pennsylvania Council on the arts (for 20 years) and a contracted teaching artist. Due to the above medical emergency, I am now unable to teach in the near future

Recently, I found myself in the in the hospital for three weeks for two emergency surgeries which, now that I have been released, greatly impact my ability to work. I am now on special medication and I am assisted several times a week by a visiting Nurse.After just celebrating 40 years being an artist, and being completely independent, I currently find myself unable to leave the house, let alone teach, do my artwork or participate in shows.

I am single, near retirement age and I live alone. This will be a hard journey, but I am optimistic I will overcome this set back. I need this support to sustain myself and pay my bills while I’m healing. Art is my passion and I look forward to getting back to it.
