This page has been set up to help raise money for Georgia and Rick Sforza as they go through a very difficult time in the coming year dealing with her Stage III rectal cancer. As you can imagine, this will bring a lot of financial strain as they face increased expenses for mileage, insurance co-payments, medicine, possible unpaid time off work, etc.
My name is Loring Fiske-Phillips, and quite a few friends have asked me what Georgia and Rick could use to help them. I decided the direct approach was best and asked them whether they needed money. They said they had just been discussing that very topic and wondering how they were going to handle the increased costs. They agreed that financial gifts from friends and family would be very welcome.
Prayers and positive energy are always needed, but if you can also afford to make a contribution, please do so. Even small amounts add up. All amounts raised (less the fees charged by GoFundMe - about 8%) will go directly to Georgia and Rick. A gift with no strings attached.

October 14th, 2014 - This would become an important day. It was the first day that anyone real spoke to us about what we (Georgia) was facing. We met with Dr Robert Yuhan (who we've come to regard as "the best ass man in the business") who told us exactly what we were facing. "The cancer is Moderately Differentiated Adenocarcinoma" or Stage III rectal cancer. He didn't give us false hope, he gave us information and knowledge. He gave us back our power. "Colo/Rectal cancer is slow growing. I think you're stage III. Your lungs, heart and kidneys all look good. There is no spread (to those organs) and no spread to blood vessels/system. The only problem for you, there are some lymph nodes involved...two or three." Dr Yuhan would go on to recommend radiation and chemo first (5 to 6 weeks) to shrink the tumor. "Some people (let's insert Georgia here) get dramatic results, 5 to 10% of the cases the cancer was shrunk to scar tissue." Surgery will follow 6 to 10 weeks following radiation/chemo. And likely chemo will follow surgery. "Treatment is for the cure."
