Lets help Lochy make his life a little easier after 8 years of fighting to keep it.
Lochlan was first diagnosed with Acute Lymhoblastic Leukemia when he was just 11 years old. He completed 3.5 years of treatment at the Monash children’s Hospital of which one year was extremely intensive enduring a host of serious complications.
Unfortunately after 7 months off all treatment and at the age of 15yrs, he received the devastating news that he had relapsed after originally been given a 80-90% prognosis.
This was a cruel blow, another year off school, another extended period of time isolated from the world he had built up again.
This time around saw him again being intensively treated at The Monash Children’s for another 2.5 years.
Following this, ironically, another 7 months off all treatment had passed, the third devastating blow came whilst Lochlan was only a few months into Year 12.
All Lochy ever wanted to do was finish high school as he had so many roadblocks along the way but sadly this will not happen.
This time, it was evident after many different chemo therapies over a very long period of time, that Lochy’s Luekemia was Chemotherapy resistant. It was now time to bring out the big gun, the only path Lochy has left...a bone marrow transplant.
Fortunately for Lochy, he comes from a big family of four boys in which one out of the other three brothers was a donor match. a perfect donor match.
His twelve year old brother Riley.
Without question or fear, Riley has just recently donated his bone marrow to his brother.
On the 12th September 18, at the age of 19 years, Lochy received his youngest brothers gift of life.
Lochy will be in hospital for another month whilst his brothers cells engraft.
This is nothing new to Lochy as he has spent much of the last 8 years and all of his teenage years in and out of hospitals.
Lets help Lochy make this a happy ending to a very hard fight, emotionally, physically, socially and let’s not forget mentally.
We, Lochy’s Army are raising funds to help Lochy live the desired life he deserves when his health returns, that may be travel, schooling or simply just living. He is incapable of working and doesn’t receive any government assistance.
Lochy and his wonderfully supportive family have never asked for a thing from anybody.
