Help With Lily's Medical Costs

I have wanted to adopt a dog, specifically a pit bull, I would see all the poor pits on Facebook and that decided me to adopt one because they are the most misunderstood breed. I knew I couldn't devote enough time to a dog while I was working, but I retired from my job in April. Dealing with some health issues kept me from adopting right also have two cats, so that restricted my search a bit and the Rescue Agency had to be near New Jersey.
I thought I had found "the one" but someone else got her. At the shelter that night, I decided to take one more look around. At the end of a dark row of cages was a pit, all curled up in a ball and shaking badly. I asked to see her and it was love at first sight. She had been found wandering the streets of New York so there was no information on her. The shelter listed her as lame, but I didn't think that would be a major issue.
As it happened, I was wrong. Lily, as I named her had serious problems with her back legs and I live in a three floor walk up. I took her to my cats' vet who basically wrote her off. What was I going to do? I couldn't take her back to Animal Control because if I hadn't taken her that night, she would be on the euthanesia list. I cried and cried. I already loved this sad looking dog who was so traumatized she didn't bark and barely moved.
On a chance, I took her to another vet who throughly examined her and although Lily's muscles and tendons had damage, the vet thought she had a good chance of being able to walk without flopping over or her legs getting tangled up. I didn't see any of this at the shelter when they brought her to me, it was only when I got her home. I put my faith in this vet who said Lily needed strength because she was emaciated. Good food, fish oil and anti inflammatories were started. Next she just started laser therapy.
Here's the crunch. All this has cost a great deal of money, but it was that or put her down and I just couldn't do it. Anyone who has had a pet knows what that is like. Lily is slowly improving, but she still needs treatment.
