Goto Sensei 8th Dan testing costs
Donation protected
Goto Sensei will be testing for his Hachidan in May. Hachidan (8th) is the last of the dan rankings, and opens up interesting possibilities, like him being sent to teach internationally.
This is a major undertaking, scheduled annually during one of the most expensive times of the year to travel in Japan and located in Kyoto. I'm putting together this GoFundMe to see if we can help ease the way.
I asked Goto sensei for a breakdown of costs and he gave me this.
Testing fee: $400
Travel expenses: $300
Lodging: $150
Subtotal: $850
and then if he passes:
Registration fee: $1,000
My goal is to raise funds so his testing expenses are covered, and see if we can get some of the registration fee covered as well. If we manage to cover all the expenses, but it doesn't go his way, then I'm thinking of holding the registration fee in escrow. (Pass rates are in the single digits.)
