Team Waltenbaugh

Donation protected
Yesterday's biopsies yielded Mark Waltenbaugh the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma stage 3. I am sick to think that the man that took care of Kathi and me after our kidney transplant/donation surgeries had been sick himself through the whole thing. I can't tell you how amazing he was. He has been a diligent care taker (cook, housekeeper, nurse), patient chauffeur, dutiful financial manager, concerned friend, competent multi tasker while staying as kind, gentle and humorous as ever.
Kidney transplantation and the lifelong after effects- even in the best case scenario- are no joke. The daily meds, time off from work, regular doctor appointments and labs are costly. The Waltenbaughs are just not in a position to deal with another huge medical bill stream only 8 weeks after Kathi's transplant, as very few of us would be.
In Titus 3:14, Paul writes: "Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others; then they will not be unproductive."
We have to be productive in our faith. We pray, and then we act. We never know when we- or our parents or children- could be the ones in Mark and Kathi's shoes. Let's suit up for this team in compassion and faith, and meet the urgent needs of this family. God is honored when we show up for each other because of our love for Him. Let's go, team.
