We Are #TeamAnya Strong

Hello family and friends,

On Monday September 18, 2017 Anya was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer...Anya had just started her Sophomore year of High School when she first noticed signs of a strange lump on the backside of her neck...Her treatment plan will consist of 42 weeks of Chemo treatments, with a surgery at week 12 to remove the tumor on the backside of her neck...She’ll then start radiation for four and a half weeks once she’s healed from surgery...We are a two income family who is down to one income as I have taken FMLA from work to care for my daughter...With so much that goes into the care i.e. medications, co-pays for doctor visits and gas to and from visits, I'm afraid I'll have to return to work sooner than I’d like and be unable to care for my daughter at this time of need...We are asking for any help at this time to keep us afloat...I'd like to stay at home with my daughter as long as possible to care for her...We greatly thank you from the bottom of our hearts...

UPDATE*UPDATE*UPDATE

Anya did complete her initial treatment plan on July 9th 2018...She even started physical therapy to help with neck mobility at the end of July...But before we could go in for her “All Clear Scans” she was rushed to Phoenix Children’s Hospital ER on August 15th having extreme back pain, which was causing a numbing sensation in her left arm/hand...On August 16th we learned that Anya’s cancer had returned...Three tumors were found, two in her spine, the C5 & T7 areas and one in her right lung...She had to have a spinal fusion surgery to help stabilize her spine...After a week in the hospital we got to go home...Things seemed to be going well, but then Anya’s arm/hand pain came back...So back to PCH we went...Another week in the hospital we stayed, while they came up with a way for us to manage Anya’s pain at home...On September 10th after spending almost another week at home Anya was taken back to PCH with once again extreme arm/hand pain, she had a nerve block done to help the arm pain, but this was a temporary fix til we found the right combination of medication to help her with the pain so we could go home...Anya is left hand dominant so she really wanted to regain the use of her left arm/hand...While dealing with all of this her oncology doctor made us aware of the most dreaded news a family never wants to hear, that most Rhabdomyosarcoma patients who relapse do not have a good prognosis...We as a family are hopeful that Anya will survive this second wave of cancer to grow up and live a full life...Anya was only able to go 8 days of her Junior year of High School when her cancer came back, unfortunately she is unable to attend school once again...

UPDATE:
On February 23, 2019, Our dear sweet Anya has gained her angel wings...She leaves behind her Mother Rose and Brother Joseph, along with many family and friends...She was a true light in this world and will be greatly missed...Anya’s dream was to become a fashion photographer for Vogue Italia magazine one day and to travel the world...She was a total foodie and enjoyed trying new dishes all the way to the end...She was also a true Stranger Things fan and could recite almost every line in every episode...Music, Food and her friends were life...This world just got a little dimmer without her...I know she’s happy and healthy and enjoying all that the universe is, and in time we will meet again...Until then I can only hope to make you proud...Love Mom ♥️
