Hello,
My name is Elizabeth (Corbin) Nudo and as we all know Puerto Rico is experiencing a power outage like none they have faced before due to the extensive damage done by both hurricanes Irma and Maria. It has been estimated that the island will not have restored power for up to 6 months in many areas. Due to this tragic situation many families stateside have yet to hear from their loved ones. The initiative with this GoFundMe account is to raise money in order to send over solar cell phone chargers and solar lanterns to aid the people of Puerto Rico while the island undergoes recovery efforts.
Our goal is to raise at least $5,000.00 and ideally work with a retailer as well as the PR governor's office in order to get these items in the hands of the people. Details regarding the supplier and how to ship the chargers and lanterns are currently being worked out and this post will be updated once the logistics are sorted. Our idea is to raise as much capital as possible now so that when the pathways are clear to send in goods we can hit the ground running! I will make updates as progress is made and will ultimately edit this "story," once everything is set in stone.
I want to thank all who are willing to assist in this effort to provide light and re-open communication to the island of Puerto Rico in advance. As you can imagine to not hear from a friend, parent, sibling, cousin, spouse, etc. is probably one of the most difficult things to experience when tragedy strikes. Your participation in this effort to bring light and comminucation to families and friends will be deeply appreciated.
