"Gordie's teeth are choking him"

Hi, my name is Sophie-Anais. I'm about to turn 19 this May and my family has raised guinea pigs for almost ten years. This time last year, we adopted 3 year old Gordie and his brother Norman from the Toronto Humane Society, pigs who had spent their whole lives in the system without a home. Ever since their health and general wellbeing has skyrocketed, they run, they play, they cuddle and they talk. But while recovering from a respiratory infection, Gordie started chewing less and less and struggling more and more to eat at the lightning quick pace he used to. The vet confirmed our suspicion that his teeth had become overgrown, but what we didn't know was that it was his molars: his cheek teeth had overgrown and were beginning to trap his tongue. He will need surgery to file down these teeth and he needs it soon or they'll choke him from within. The vet told us it last Friday, though we spotted it soon enough it was already getting dire and he would need the surgery by next week or our only option would be euthanasia. The surgery alone costs $1500, and with my mother being a single parent to me, a fulltime student who's preparing for college and my older autistic brother who can't ever work- we simply can't pay. But I cant give up! Gordie came back from his sickness with such energy and excitement and is still fighting despite it all- I can't give up on him. I've been missing school and staying up for days on end syringe feeding him critical care every 3 hours and the check up itself was nearly $400. We're trying everything we can, but it's cutting it too close now- Im begging for help, I've never seen a guinea pig so excited and happy to live, so strong despite being so small and I want him to have a fair chance. Every cent will go to Gordie's care so that he can continue enjoying life with his brother for the first time out of the shelter and as part of a family. Please, whatever you can spare can make a difference.
