Gordon Funeral Fund

Terri and Gene Gordon met and they fell in love. He had lost his wife and the mother of his four sons to cancer. They married in 2000 and got to work building a life as a new family of six. Terri mothered these boys as if they were her own because, in her heart, they were. They had their struggles, as all parents do, but they loved each other through them and eventually the boys grew into men and left home to begin their bright futures. This is the part where parents are supposed to breathe a sigh of relief and begin their journey of living the easy life in their newly empty nest.

In February 2007, twins Bradley and Brandon turned 21. Three weeks later, Terri and Gene received word that Brandon, a U.S.  Army Soldier and member of the elite “Night Stalker” battalion had been killed when the helicopter he was in was shot down over Afghanistan. The family mourned their son and brother but knew in their hearts he died as a hero doing what he loved. As hard as it was, they pressed on but this was the second major loss for the boys and the struggle took its toll, especially for the brothers.

In early August 2017, once again Terri and Gene got the news that yet another of their sons had been found unresponsive. The youngest, Cole, had become yet another victim of the heroin and opioid epidemic and, yet again, this family went into survival mode as they tried to pull it all together and lay to rest the “baby” of their family. But this was only part one of a short, devastating chapter of their lives because only four month later, on Christmas Eve, the oldest brother, Bryan, was found dead, also. It was drugs.....AGAIN.

The grief for this family is suffocating. Parents shouldn’t have to bury a child, let alone three of them. It doesn’t make sense. How much grief should one family have to bear?  As if the pain of losing children is not enough, there is also the enormous cost. Funerals are so expensive and the family is still trying to pay off the bill from Cole’s service.

This is where WE CAN HELP. There are two things the Gordon’s need more than anything right now. First, will you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as you go through your day and, secondly, would you please consider making a donation  (of any amount) to help ease some of the heavy burden they are feeling? Wouldn’t it be so much easier if they could focus more on grieving and healing from their losses than having to worry and fret over the additional monetary debt they will be left with after the cards and visits have stopped and everyone else has gone back to their normal lives?

PLEASE, PLEASE help!

Thank you and may God bless you.
