Gopher for John

John needs a gopher... he has a story that will break your heart..
About a year ago John was unfortunate enough to break his leg in circumstances that give him no recourse; no one he can sue or pursue. But you won't hear him complain..
You don't need to be an orthopaedic surgeon to see from his X-ray that his leg has been seriously broken..
John underwent initial surgery to have pins & rods inserted to repair his horrific break .. This is where most breaks then heal & you have 6 to 12 weeks on crutches, some physio & get on with your life..
John was unlucky enough to get an infection which meant the rods & pins had to be removed along with all his bone marrow.. this factor alone may prevent his leg from ever healing ..
To date John has had surgery 14 times & spent many months in hospital.. Until recently John was able to get lifts everywhere from his ex-partner. He is unable to drive currently & surviving on Newstart (yes, really!) how do you look for s job with your leg in a cage?!?
he has tried every conceivable avenue to get enough money together to buy a gopher so he can get himself to his doctor appointments. He's not entitled to disability as so far no one knows if his leg will heal..
He is staying 10 kms out of Gingin so he needs a gopher with grunt!
12 months; 14 surgeries; months in hospital; rods & pins; massive infection; bone grafts & skin grafts.. so far there has been no sign of any bone growth from the grafts done in June. The cage will stay on his leg until it heals or until they remove his leg..
A very sad situation for a young 38 yr old fella, who has already lost both his mum & dad..
let's help him..
So.. all John is asking for is some wheels to get him to town to see the doctor..
