Most of you all know The Morris Family - Connie, Tony, Hunter, and Camryn. A few days ago, Hunter surprised Camryn for her Birthday with a new puppy. Camryn was ecstatic to have a new puppy; after losing her family dog and best friend, Trigger, suddenly to Addison's disease. Unfortunately, she and the rest of the family are experiencing the same heartache with their new puppy, Goose.
Goose became part of the Morris family on Wednesday, October 25th. He is an adorable yellow labrador. After a few days, they could tell he wasn't acting right, so they decided to take him to the vet. They were quickly informed that he looked like he was in poor condition - dehydrated and low-level of energy. The vet examined him and determined he has canine parvovirus (CPV) infection.
CPV is a highly contagious viral illness that affects dogs. The virus manifests itself in two different forms. The more common form is the intestinal form, which is characterized by vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and lack of appetite (anorexia). The less common form is the cardiac form, which attacks the heart muscles of very young puppies, often leading to death. The majority of cases are seen in puppies that are between six weeks and six months old. The incidence of canine parvovirus infections has been reduced radically by early vaccination in young puppies. (petmd.com)
Goose has been in the Anne Arundel emergency vet hospital being treated for CPV since Saturday. Now they are facing expensive vet bills that continue to rack up each day.
