Five years ago my kidneys failed suddenly. For more than a year, I struggled to live. Today I am on dialysis for 8 hours a day, every day, hoping for a kidney transplant.
I am on the transplant list at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, so I wait for the phone call that means good hope for my future. The funds we raise will help us with the cost of housing during the month we have to remain in Jacksonville so that I can receive weekly care from Mayo, as well as for the necessary trips we will have to make in the future.
We know that this is a life-long journey and that we will face unanticipated expenses for my care along the way. My friends and family members — nearby and far away — are such an important part of my journey, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
Your contribution to this fund, your good thoughts and your prayers have been, and will continue to be, the caring support that we truly need.
Thank you so much for your friendship.
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope.”
— Jeremiah 29:11 (NRSV)
