Good Family Relief Fund, Montecito

The devastation in Montecito on Jan 9th has affected an amazing community. The Good Family, Richard, Stacy, and their granddaughter Lily were one of the many families not only impacted by the Thomas Fire, but now the tragic mudslide in Montecito. We are so grateful they are safe considering the circumstances they faced living in the epicenter of the devastation. They barely escaped the rushing mud with their lives, but it took almost everything from them. They escaped with their lives but now they are facing medical bills, no place to live, and they have nothing. Luckily, they were rescued by the incredible assistance of their neighbor Mark Olsen. Their home, cars and all other belongings are under mud, destroyed, leaving them with nothing but, thank God, their lives. This is a humble, kind, generous, giving family, for whom money has never been a focal point. Losing everything and starting over is a difficult feat without others help, and while money can never take away the pain of this loss, we can help them recover some of the many costs that lie ahead. No amount is too small! The family will be displaced for several months to come, so let's help them get back on their feet. The money donated will go directly to them to cover basic needs of everyday life, from housing to food, transportation, clothing, furniture and more. After being such a passionate part of Santa Barbara for 30 years, clients and friends who have heard of their family’s loss are asking what they can do to help and what they need. We decided that setting up this fundraiser would be the easiest way for your generosity to be received. For a family that has given so much to Santa Barbara and Monticito for so many years, it only seems fitting in this time of their greatest need to step up and extend a hand. Richard is the General Manager of Bright Event Rentals and he has dedicated most of his life to making other people’s special events flawless and amazing. Richard has been on the board of Visit Santa Barbara for many years and has worked hard to help Santa Barbara thrive and grow. Going back over 20 years to his first board position at a local private school, Richard has frequently given his time and energy to helping organizations from Partners in Education to the Santa Barbara Film Festival by helping to bring their events to life. Let's help this family in every way we can. Lift them up in prayer! They and so many others in Santa Barbara County need our support more than ever. Thank you in advance for helping during this time. We are so grateful! Please share this story. We love you all! I am putting an amount of $35,000 to be raised but honestly this will be a drop in the bucket. If we are fortunate enough to raise the $35,000, please do not stop there. Let us keep going past this amount. I Cathy Hanzelik, Richard's Sister, and am just in Ventura County seems forever far away with the freeway closed and I am just trying to help anyway I can.
