"Go Liv!"- Olivia Nelson Support

Donation protected
Olivia Nelson is 13 and a student at Hidden Oaks Middle School. She is beautiful inside and out and a strong athlete in volleyball and cheerleading. However, all of that changed in December 2017 when a lump was discovered on her leg...after testing, x-rays, MRI's, biopsies and pathology she was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer called Adamantinoma on 1/22/18. There are approximately 300 cases in the US.
This cancer does not respond to Chemo or Radiation, treatment requires removal of the affected bone, then a bone graft and stem cell transplant. This requires a donor bone being found that is a match, and then a long surgery and approximately 6-month recovery...assuming the transplant doesn't reject. Of course, it's January so a full deductible, testing, co-pays are ahead for the Nelson family.  **UPDATE- Surgery has been scheduled for 2/13/18 with Dr. Temple at Miami Children's Hospital. **They are looking at surgery in either Miami or Texas or NYC...their lives have been turned upside down as they try to research this devastating diagnosis to find the very best team they can find to help their beautiful little girl. Accommodations will have to be made at their home...her adorable loft bed will no longer work...she will need an adjustable bed to allow for her leg to be elevated to assist in her healing.
A little bit about the Nelson Family...I grew up with Alicia & Rhett Nelson. Alicia used to be my business partner in real estate in the early 2000's, and then their dream came true...Olivia was born in 2004. Olivia was their "Miracle" child...they were told they couldn't have children but God had different plans. Then a few years later they welcomed 4 more miracles...Noah, Maddie, Melina and John...their nieces and nephews who needed a new home filled with love and hope. They have raised them as their own children and now are very proudly a "Party of 7!" They have 2 children in college, one is high school, one in middle school and then one in elementary...so their plates are full. They are the type of people who do for others constantly and have a really hard time asking for themselves, and/or receiving assistance. So I am asking you for them...they need help, they can't get through this alone, even with insurance. My goal is to raise at least $20,000 to assist in paying for an adjustable bed which will be approx. $2,000 and then $18,000 to go towards deductibles and co-pays, travel, counseling, and income lost while they care for Olivia. No gift is too small! Please, please pray for how you can help...if it's just in prayer then please pray for Olivia in her healing, and for her family as they walk this path. If you can help financially they would be forever grateful! I know our community, I know our God will handle this, I know we can do this and I know Olivia will come through this stronger in the end! Thank you for being part of #goliv!!!
