Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in N. Ogden

Tax deductible
The purpose of the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument is to honor Gold Star Families, preserve the memory of the fallen, and stand as a stark reminder that Freedom is not free. This stunning black granite monument features two sides. One side bears the words: Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives who have sacrificed a Loved One for our Freedom. The other side tells a story through the four granite panels: Homeland, Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice. The scenes on each panel are a reflection of each community’s Gold Star Families and their fallen Heroes. At the center of this tribute is the most distinct feature of the monument, the cut out which represents the Loved One who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of Freedom.

This beautiful monument represents the ultimate sacrifice made by a military member in service to their country and to honor their families. It is a beautiful display of our pride and gratitude to the families of those who have died in service to our country. Three families in the last 12 months have lost a service member in our community alone. This nearly 8 foot tall, 14 foot long granite monument will stand as a reminder to all Gold Star Families that our town will never forget their sacrifice.

The Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation has inspired 56 of these monuments across the United States. This monument will be the first placed here in Utah. The site that has been chosen for this monument is on the grounds of the North Ogden City Office Complex where it will be surrounded by the Library, City Administration Office and Courthouse. It will stand near the flagpole, which proudly flies the Gold Star Flag for our former Mayor, Brent Taylor. The site for the monument has been unanimously approved by the North Ogden City Council and has their full support. Fundraising for the monument is underway. Placement of the monument is scheduled for Memorial Day 2020, the entire cost of the monument (including site work and placement) is $60,000 and will be raised entirely from private and corporate donors. We sincerely hope that you will choose to join us in recognizing the contribution of Gold Star Families to this community by assisting us financially to reach our goal by the end of 2019. This will allow us to move forward with putting the monument in place by our goal of Memorial Day 2020.

Follow the Flag and The Major Brent Taylor Leadership Foundation are the main organizations leading the fundraising efforts. Both are certified public charities (501c3). All donations gathered by these two organizations will go toward funding this memorial.
