Going to Yeshiva in Israel

Donation protected

Hi my name is Yishai Amar and I am 18 yrs old. I graduated high school and I want to go to Yeshiva for 1 yr to learn Torah and increase my Yirat Shamayim.

I have been accepted in a great Yeshiva called Lev HaTorah.I have been saving money to go to Yeshiva for the last 2 yrs by working at Metzuyan. My parents are doing what the can do to help me but going to Yeshiva for a year is very expensive.

There are a lot reasons why I would like to go to Yeshiva. The main reason I think is that I did not go to Jewish school. I learned about science, math, history, business and many other subjects but never about what was really important to me.

Since I was younger I always went to synagogue with my Dad and my brothers. We used to play a lot but we would also go listen to stories about the Torah on Pourim, Hanaoucha and all the holidays. I grew up loving these stories and doing Perke Avot as I got older and reading my Parashah for my Bar Mitzvah.
After my Bar Mitzvah I started going to the synagogue more and started going to Chabad youth programs. As I got older I started going to NCSY and going to youth study programs. Now that I am graduating High school I want to take the next step in my Torah studies.
I see yeshiva, as a place where people take a year off to learn Torah and Gemara and other Jewish studies to get closer to Hashem, and make that connection stronger. I want to go to yeshiva because it is an environment where I will feel connected to Hashem without having any distraction when I am learning. When I visited the yeshiva in Beth Shemesh, during the month of February, I was able to experience what yeshiva is all about. What I really liked about the yeshiva was that the students and Rabbis were really nice, kind and respectful, that they were very welcoming, and the way they were learning was beautiful. This was an unforgettable moment in my life. It was truly incredible. These are the main reasons why I love to learn and why I am exceptionally grateful to Hashem to have the privilege to take a gap year and to go to yeshiva next year.
About 3 years ago I joined this youth Minyan called Abir Yaacov, organized by Salomon Bendayan. With Salomon we do Hilloulot and fun activities, but we also learn Torah on Friday nights. Ever since we started learning Torah on Friday nights, I just fell in love with it, and my passion for Torah grew tremendously, and with the help of Hashem, will keep on growing stronger.
