We are Messers Theatre, a brand spanking new theatre company based in Dublin. This November, we’re producing our very first show, The Wild Atlantic Wake, at The Teachers’ Club, Dublin (Nov 25th–29th).

The Wild Atlantic Wake was first developed in 2019 as part of a residency with A Little Room Theatre Development Centre in Waterford. It later received a rehearsed reading at Knockanstockan Festival the same year. Plans to continue development were stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, in 2025, Messers Theatre is bringing the play to full production for the first time at The Teachers’ Club.

Written by Waterford playwright Jason Kennealy, The Wild Atlantic Wake is a pitch-black rural comedy set in Dingle, weaving together grief, hangovers, small-town schemes, and some very questionable decisions. Jason's work has been recognised across Ireland, winning Best Short Script at the Waterford Film Festival in 2016, being a finalist at the Scripts Playwriting Festival in 2021, and earning a nomination for Best Screenplay at the Kerry International Film Festival in 2024. He is currently part of the Irish Writers Centre’s National Mentoring Programme under the guidance of Colin Barrett, and his play Siege premiered at Scene + Heard 2025 in collaboration with our producer Gráinne Christmas.

This is a self-funded, independent production. We’re passionate about bringing bold new Irish work to the stage, but theatre costs money; from sets, and costumes, to marketing and paying our writer and amazing actors. Every euro raised here will go directly into making this production possible and ensuring it’s given the platform it deserves.
