GoFund Me to Heal Us

Youtube has a subtitles/captions option for the video :)

My ancestors come from the Kaingang tribe of Southeastern Brazil and from communities in Nigeria and West Benin that were violently migrated from their homelands to Brazil. These ancestors and our stories resonate through me and shape everything I do; they support and guide me now.

Gifts from this campaign support me to learn the  medicines of my people so that I can more meaningfully participate in the healing of all of us and of our earth.

Despite being outlawed from practicing our medicines for many years, my ancestors managed to keep our traditions and healing modalities alive. I have the opportunity to journey throughout Brazil, meeting and learning our people, collaborating with community organizers, and receiving initial training and guidance in our many medicines and spiritual practices which facilitate healing in arenas ranging from complex trauma to cancer.

Our world deserves and needs us to be who we are, to honor where we come from, and to use our gifts with generosity, power, and benevolence. I am ready to learn that which can only come to me from my people. To ethically practice and share our medicines and frameworks, I have to be trained at the source.

I call to our Community and Collectives to dream this possibility into being with me.  All that stands between me and this voyage, which captures every most sacred hope I have held in my heart, is the fiscal resourcing to be able to pick my life up and go.

I vow to use these resources to become the most expansive and impactful healer I can be... for all of us.

*** A heartfelt context***

In this dynamic of my story, which centers the lived experience of my biological mother, my indigeneity, and my cultural inheritance, I have not woven in the rich love story I have with my soul mother (aka my adopted mother), Ann Wells. Writing to affirm any who have felt worried or upset: I have deep love for my mother, Ann, and am both conscious of and grateful for her role and presence in my life.  Loving/singing the story of one of my mothers does not negate the love and story of the other.
