Selfless Servings: Feed Lives, Who Save Lives

Doctors constantly give to others and are conditioned to tirelessly work for and care for our loved ones. This dedication to serving others is admirable, but this relentless outpour of energy can take its toll when not supported accordingly. In order to be at their best mentally for both their patients and individual families, healthcare professionals need to recharge much like a battery.
Physicians are failing to do this by themselves as shown by sky-high burnout and suicide rates. Burnout rates have climbed as high as 50% in recent years and physician suicide rates are the highest of any profession in the United States. Around 300-400 physicians die by suicide each year, a disturbingly high rate that surpasses the well-documented mental struggles of veterans (Farmer, 2018). This lack of self-care is alarming and the community has the power and ability to support physicians, caregivers, and other healthcare workers on the frontlines.
Monetary donations collected from this GoFundMe page will go towards 1 of 2 different avenues to feed those on the front lines. Route 1 will entail connecting with local businesses/restaurants to purchase individually-packaged meals to deliver to Corvallis hospitals. Route 2 will leverage the volunteer base in Corvallis that is ready and willing to cook meals and provide snacks for local hospital workers. Ingredients for meals for home-chefs will be purchased in grocery stores and then delivered via non-contact drop-off methods to the homes of those volunteer chefs. Volunteers will then cook the meals and submit the order for pick-up by our volunteer delivery driver base.
