Help Claire Fight Against Congenital Heart Disease

If you have ever met Claire, she leaves quite an impression! Claire is strong, brave, and angelic. She got Huyen's smile and Tong's eyes.

When baby Claire was at 20 weeks in Huyen's tummy, the doctor saw something abnormal with the baby's heart and referred her to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, then a fetal cardiologist. It was confirmed that she had a dysplastic mitral valve, which meant her leaflets were thicker than normal. Because of this, they could not close and open properly. Unfortunately after 2 months, Claire was born, and her heart got worse.

Since Oct 2022 until now she has been in and out of the hospital after her two open-heart surgeries at Boston Children's Hospital. Her condition is very unstable, and the ECHO shows her mitral valve function is getting worse. We hope that she will stay healthy and grow bigger before her 3rd open-heart surgery. However, if she needed the surgery sooner or unexpectedly, she would need to be airlifted to Boston.

Tong and Huyen, we all know this journey is difficult and lifelong to get Claire well and back home with you. Thank you for being calm, strong, and supportive parents.
