Our dear friends Mira and Eros could use some help, love, and support. As you may know, Eros fell off a second-story balcony (12-14 feet!) recently. A railing at their house had been disconnected due to construction work and he unwittingly leaned against it and went tumbling right through.
Eros has suffered multiple broken ribs, a broken wrist, a slightly collapsed lung, and a whole host of things that feel like “ouch.” He has been nearly completely immobilized by his injuries. The amazing news is that all of these injuries will mend with time and he will eventually make a full recovery, which is no small miracle given the intensity of the fall and the scope of his injuries! So much grace and gratitude in that.
However, in the meantime, the road to recovery is long and it’s a lot for Mira and Eros to handle by themselves. Eros hasn’t been able to get up or move around without assistance and the nights are long and painful. Mira has been by his side non-stop, tending his needs and trying to help him minimize the pain, while they both recover from the shock of this massive change in their lives.
As you may know, Mira and Eros just moved to Maui three months ago. Although they have started making inroads with community there, the vast majority of their friends and loved ones are back on the mainland far far away. With Mira needing to stay by Eros’ side 24/7 due to the nature of his injuries and the level of care needed, and with both of them recovering from the emotional trauma of the accident as well as what Eros is going through physically, this is a time when they need the support of community more than ever.
The good news is, even though most of us are far away and Mira and Eros are having to go through all this intensity almost entirely on their own, there are ways those of us who love them can help from afar via financial contributions. After seeking urgently for ways to support them from across the ocean, a group of us friends have put together this campaign to show support to our dear brother and sister during this intense time.
We invite you to join us in supporting these two wonderful humans by making a donation!
Your contribution is going to help:
1 - Hire people to run errands, pick up the mail, handle essential tasks, and anything else that would make it very difficult to do with Eros needing someone around at all times.
2 - Have people go grocery shopping for them and deliver the groceries to them. This has been a major source of need as they are far outside of town and don’t live in an “Instacart” zone, and for Mira to go to the store herself takes a few hours in total. This is not only stressful because Eros shouldn’t be left alone for such a long stretch, but it isn’t “off” time so when Mira gets back she is even more depleted than if she stayed. Delivery fees can be $50+ to the exact spot where they live.
3 - Alternative practitioners. They are looking into working with a trauma specialist to address the experience they have had as well as acupuncture and other treatments. This is an important area for healing.
4 - Supplements. There are a number of effective supplements that are not covered by insurance and will make a big difference in recovery. They are working with a Naturopath, who is also a friend, to have proper guidance to do this well.
5 - Overall “help with life.” This speaks to a number of things that don’t fall into the above categories that your contribution will aid them in receiving. Supporting our friends as they move through this time.
