GoFundMe for Baby Emerson High

Emerson Wesley High was born October 23, 2017 at New Hanover Regional in Wilmington, NC. He had a prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect- Atrioventricular septal defect. Born at 36 weeks and weighing 6lbs 10.8oz, Emerson did amazingly well in the NICU and only stayed 5 days. At 2.5 weeks old, he was admitted back into New Hanover PICU for heart failure and reflux. The doctors started him on lasix and he did great for 2 more weeks. He was beginning to gain weight, which is important for surgery, and his pediatrician was giving him a break from weekly weight checks. He was readmitted on November 30th for labored breathing. They increased his lasix and added new medications (additional diuretic, synthroid for his thyroid, and digoxin for his heart). He continued to decline and was airlifted to UNC-Chapel Hill on December 5th. As of the 6th, he is stable and awaiting a surgical date.
The latest update on Baby Emerson is that the doctors at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina can not repair his heart and they are now trying to locate other hospitals who may be able to perform this delicate, life saving surgery.  Emerson is critically stable to date but could be facing a heart transplant if no doctor can perform the surgical repair his heart desperately needs.
