On July 25th we took our three-year-old daughter Lyla to the Emergency Room because she had been complaining about stomach pains for about two days, along with other symptoms. At first they believed it was her appendix, but after tests and a CT that was ruled out. However they did find a tumor on her right kidney. We were then transferred to Randall's Children's Hospital where they did an MRI and CT and found a second tumor on her left kidney. We have yet to have an official diagnosis, but what we do know now is that she has cancer and will be needing chemotherapy and surgery for treatment. This has all happened so quickly, we don't know what kind of tumor it is and what the best course of treatment is. The doctors are telling us everything points to a malignant tumor on the right kidney and are unsure if the tumor on the left kidney is malignant or benign.
The reason for this fundraiser is so that we can focus on our beautiful daughter's recovery, giving her all the comfort and support she needs. We are still unsure what insurance will cover and this is something we won't know until the first bill is sent out. We are also unable to go to work, while she is in the hospital and will be needing help to pay our monthly bills. We know this will be an ongoing process for some time and will have more expenses down the line. Any money remaining will be saved and used for future medical bills or for Lyla's college fund.

El 25 de julio llevamos a nuestra hija de tres años, Lyla, a la sala de emergencias porque se había estado quejando de dolor en el estómago durante dos días, junto con otros síntomas. Al principio creyeron que era su apéndice. Pero después de hacerle pruebas y una tomografía computarizada, esto se descartó. Sin embargo, encontraron un tumor en su riñón derecho. Luego fuimos trasladados al Hospital Infantil de Randall (Randall’s Children’s Hospital) donde le hicieron una imagen resonancia magnética y una tomografía computarizada y encontraron un segundo tumor en su riñón izquierdo. Todavía no tenemos un diagnóstico oficial, pero lo que sí sabemos ahora es que ella tiene cáncer y necesitará quimioterapia y cirugía para el tratamiento. Todo esto sucedió tan de repente. No sabemos qué tipo de tumor es y cuál es el mejor curso de tratamiento. Los médicos nos están diciendo que todo indica que es un tumor maligno en el riñón derecho y no estamos seguros si el tumor en el riñón izquierdo es maligno o benigno.
El motivo de esta recaudación de fondos es para poder concentrarnos en la recuperación de nuestra hermosa hija, para poder brindarle toda la comodidad y apoyo que necesita. Todavía no estamos seguros de cuanto cubrirá el seguro médico y esto es algo que no sabremos hasta que se nos envíe la primera factura. También, mientras de que ella sigue en el hospital no podemos ir a trabajar y necesitaremos ayuda para pagar nuestros gastos mensuales. Sabemos que esto será un proceso continuo por algún tiempo y tendremos más gastos en el futuro. Cualquier dinero restante de las donaciones se guardará y se utilizará para futuras facturas médicas o para el fondo de la universidad de Lyla.
