Caring hearts, my salvation.

Hello everyone!  My Name is Patrick, I am humbled and am reaching out to those who can understand my situation.

... About five months ago I was diagnosed with oral cancer and had to quit my job in order to deal with my illness.  I was admitted for surgery for oral cancer after my diagnosis just a little too late it seemed. It seems I was not aware of its presence under my tongue and the damage and the fastidious timing of this type of cancer. (Salivary Gland Cancer). It took less than a year without real noticeable concern. I was urged from an oncologist to have this removed immediately. The surgery was pretty successful for they were able to remove about 95% percent of the tumor.  A very intricate four and a half hour surgery known to damage nerve cells, tastes and smells! A very good Dr. I want to add for this type of surgery.  Then I was informed that I must go through 40 daily radiation treatments to kill the rest of the cancer cells. Then it began to get tricky!

As a precaution, the surgeon removed three layers of the Lymph Nodes in my neck very necessary to make sure that the cancer had not spread to the rest of my Lymphatic system. Just so you know, your body will tell you that it's missing parts by these signs,  loss of senses, such as nerves ,... severe  hot flashes, loss of taste and smell, restlessness , palpitations, anxiety attacks. It is scraping of the lymph nodes layer by layer that has caused these ongoing symptoms. The recuperation from the surgery above was approximately 4 months and still ongoing, with portions of the nerves in my neck still attempting to re-connect and most likely will be for some time to come. (The pictures I wanted to post were too graphic and they will not display them.  I still can’t feel certain things that are normal in your neck, mouth and throat area, just in case you have to go through this sort of thing ever, not to mention all kinds of things and I pray not!!   Meanwhile I am still unemployed.  Now for the necessary evil. I was scheduled to have all my teeth extracted before this radiation treatment begins (they will insist in case to prevent the slightest infection), the shortest distance from mouth to brain is the shortest distance for deadly infection to travel, that was their explanation.  Full teeth extraction would help me to have safe radiation treatments because if just the slightest infection in my mouth or jaw most likely could cause partial jaw removal and or possible life threatening infection. Justifying the extraction of all of my teeth for which I will need a full set of dentures which I cannot pay for. This action once accomplished will allow me to begin the forty rounds of oral radiation treatments required. As of now the cancer is spreading quickly. Unfortunately all of this was interrupted by a cardiac event on the Fifteenth of August of this year. That put me back in the hospital where I underwent surgery for the placement of Four Stents. The Surgeon managed to place one of the Stents across the electrical conducting nerve which causes the lower portion of my heart to no longer function properly. I was told that because of this mishap that I would now require a pace maker to ensure that my heart rate would not fall to a life threatening level. The heart surgeon said this sort of thing happens sometimes. He said! One in a thousand might have an unfortunate heart trauma with stent placement, I was in disbelief!  I of course was shaken by this and told the doctors that I wanted to give my heart time to attempt to heal itself and they said okay and discharged me from the hospital. I made four more trips back to the emergency room either by car or by ambulance in the next six days for arrhythmias and other issues related to my failing heart. Which before the stent surgery I had never had these types of issues. On the fourth visit to the emergency room my heart stopped at least Three times due to my heart rate falling to zero. For reasons the hospital staff could not explain, my heart re-started itself without the aid of outside intervention. They had never witnessed this before.  The floor Cardiologist advised me  that I could not keep going and stay alive very long without going back into surgery for the immediate placement of the pace maker. I very reluctantly permitted this to occur. Because of these events with my heart, my scheduled teeth extractions and radiation treatments have been further delayed and the cancer has now had a chance to grow back to a size where I may have to go back into surgery to have more of the mass removed. The problem here is that the Oncology surgeon and the Oral surgeons cannot consider me as a candidate for either of these procedures until after at least forty five or more days have passed after the heart procedures which means that the mass will even be larger by the time that any of them can do anything about it. So having said all of the above I am still unemployed, used up every cent I had and I am filing bankruptcy, and have even ran out of funds to finish filing, I only have one more month left with an apartment roof over my head. I am unable to work at this time until I complete two more surgery’s and two months of radiations treatment which means I will not be able to seek employment for a another 5 months. I am looking forward to being completely healed and be in the workforce one again after they consider me healed and all procedures and treatments are completed.  I have so many obligations and the financial stress does not help of course! It is obvious to me that God wants me to stay around awhile longer for my mission on this earth has not been fulfilled. I am Fifty Eight years young and I know I can still make a difference in this world if only I can get passed this ordeal. I am asking you for this chance, I am asking for your help. For I have been compassionate in my life to others, please show me compassion as well. Thank you all for your help and may God Bless. I have now been cancer free for almost two years however I have not had solid food for all that time. I am in desparate need of transplant surgery for my lower jaw, then a healing period and then anchors, implants and upper and lower prothhesis. My God! with today's technology and charitable organizations, one would think that it would not take this long to obtain help. I am becoming desperate! Can someone please help me???
