Help a Proud Veteran See Again

Donation protected
I love my country and am proud to have served it for nearly three decades in both the U.S. Navy and  the U.S. Air Force. I enlisted when I was only 17 years old, but I was diagnosed with a retinal disease six years later. I was devastated  to know that the time and training I’d devoted to being an electronic technician was worthless now that I could no longer perform my job.

After my Naval enlistment was over, I had to change my career path since I knew no one would hire a legally blind electronic technician. I knew earning a degree would enable me to find work that I enjoyed in order to take care of my family and me.

Since my diagnosis nearly 30 years ago, my life has changed tremendously. I have spent over 20 years working as a civilian computer specialist with the U.S. Air Force after graduating from college. It hasn’t been easy, but my faith and family’s support has helped me endure. It definitely has been an adjustment losing some of my independence and the ability to do so many of the things I used to love to do like reading spy novels and playing football. The most personal loss, though, is not being able to clearly see my family: my beautiful wife, my two sons and my new granddaughter.

I figured I would go through life not being able to see clearly. But that changed when my wife saw a CNN report about new tech glasses called eSight. I was apprehensive at first, but my family insisted I request a demonstration to see if they could work for me. We traveled to Nashville in order to test out the glasses, and it was the first time in over 25 years that I was able to see my wife!

With eSight, I’ve found something that can help me gain a bit of independence and see the world like so many others. This is an incredible time for my family and me, and I am hoping that I’ll be able to drive again one day.

The eSight glasses are very expensive, but any assistance that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Anyone who knows me and my family knows that we are going to do everything we can to get these glasses, but help from you would be amazing.

Thank you all for your support and contribution,

Jeffery
