<div>On September 2nd, Carlos was rushed to the hospital in Dalton, Georgia, after vomiting blood. Doctors discovered that his liver was in severe distress. Shortly after, his condition worsened — he developed pneumonia and went into septic shock, spending over 30 days in the ICU fighting to stay alive.

<div>Carlos was later transferred to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for a liver transplant evaluation. While the transplant has not yet been approved, Emory plans to re-evaluate him in two months. In the meantime, Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta is also evaluating him for a possible transplant. Our family is holding on to hope that he will be given another chance at life.

<div>Through it all, Carlos has remained strong and determined. He is fighting not just for himself, but for his three-year-old daughter, Penelope, who adores her father and needs him home and healthy.
