GoBundance Genuine Contribution

Donation protected
Hello GoBros!!

During the International Bucket List Adventure in South Africa, your fellow GoBros fulfilled the Genuine Contribution Pillar by visiting the Langa Cheshire Home (a disabled old folks home) and Heatherdale Childrens Home (a Child and Youth Care Center). They showered the kids with toys and supplies and painted part of the old folks home. They spent the rest of the day connecting and playing games with them. It was such an amazing, gratifying experience that we have decided to create a GoFundMe page to help raise funds as a TRIBE to supply essential items to these homes in need.  We have coordinated with Arlene and Hilton Hermanus to generate a list of the urgent items they need listed below. All donations will be carefully managed by Arlene who was with the GoBros all day. She is super sweet and even cried when they all left the orphanage! Help us reach our GoFundMe goal for both of these homes so they can GRAB LIFE BIG!! Please take some time to read the brief history, missions and visions of each home below.

Langa Cheshire Home - These lovely folks would love a couple of motorized wheelchairs!

Mission
Langa Cheshire Home was established in 1990 with only 3 residents, and today they house 26 residents all of whom are profoundly disabled. Nevertheless we are planning to build independent living cottages that will facilitate self reliance. The home has a well sustained garden project which is used for fundraising and cutting costs on catering. Through the assistance of the Western Cape Branch we are in the process of building a centre for an Early Childhood Development for the children with disabilities. We encourage services with other organizations and promote residents interaction within the community and in the local neighbourhood.

Vision
Our vision is to ensure that persons with disabilities have equal opportunities without discrimination in the community and within Cheshire Homes.  We value dignity, human rights and encourage residents to take part in decision making and hereby ensure that services are appropriate to their needs.

Heatherdale Childrens Home - With the Holidays and New Year quickly approaching, these vibrant children would be so grateful to receive Christmas outfits and supplies for the new school year in January, such as stationery, pens, crayons, hardcover books, and pencils. Also, they would be stoked to get a 43” TV for the boys section of the home.

Mission
Heatherdale Children’s Home strives to provide a place of safety – a loving and caring home – for all children at risk from abuse, abandonment or neglect within the communities we serve. We aim to nurture, counsel and guide children in our care towards being reunited with their families, and to secure their emotional, physical, spiritual and educational well being, thereby enabling them to live productive lives as flourishing members of the community. Currently, we cater for around 25 boys and 30 girls, aged between 4 and 18.

Vision
With the help of God and of our community, we at Heatherdale Children’s Home feel confident that we can replace…Weakness with strength of body and mind, Ignorance with education and insight, Fear with God’s promise of love and mercy, Insecurity with confidence.…so that when they leave here, they may take their rightful place in society as mature, responsible and independent young adults.
