We need your help to go to Thailand, study, and save the elephants!
Our names are McKinsey and Caroline and we are both students at the University of Central Missouri studying Public Relations and Graphic Design. We are both lucky enough to have been accepted into the study abroad program here and will be studying in Bangkok Thailand in the fall! While abroad, we will be enrolled in classes relating to our major, but we'd also like to expand this trip into a wonderful volunteer and traveling opportunity! With your support this trip can be more than academic, we need your help to travel throughout Thailand and Asia!
Countries we would like to travel to include Vietnam, China, Cambodia, and Malaysia. We have found opportunities to volunteer in Chiang Mai, about 10 hours away from where we'll be enrolled in school, and we need help with the funds to travel to and from there.
Chiang Mai is the most culturally significant city in northern Thailand. It is home to the Elephant Nature Park. It is an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center where we can volunteer and help out these beautiful creatures. In Thailand, a lot of elephants are exploited and used to lure tourists into taking pictures with them for money. We want to give back our time and do something to help Thailand.
We are so excited to have the opportunity to go to such an exotic country to study, and if we were able to afford the opportunity to further quench our thirst for culture it could turn into an even more amazing experience.
