Go (Oh) Canada

I am working toward being a licensed pediatrician in British Columbia. To accomplish this goal, I discovered I would need a fourth year of residency. With a lot of determination and effort I was able to procure a position as Chief Resident for a pediatric residency program. I knew that going back to residency would be financially challenging so I took steps to prepare myself and my sons.

I am a licensed pediatrician in Washington state and now also in New York. Part of my plan to address the anticipated financial burden was to take a moonlight job. Getting that job took considerably longer than anticipated but was ultimately achieved. I will start in November.

I am now eligible to sit the pediatric boards in Canada. It is substantially more expensive than I had anticipated.  Add to the expense the need to fly from Syracuse to British Columbia to take the written exam followed by a trip to Otowa to take the practical exams.

My second job will help somewhat but not in time. I must be registered and fees paid by January 13, 2018
