Hey Everyone! Wanted to give you all an immediate update on plans. Just got an important update from the County Health Department on the Covid (Delta Variant) situation. As They monitor cases, they were strongly recommending the Civic Auditorium not to host events for the time being unless folks can show prove of vaccinations or recent negative Covid test. And I definitely want to protect and make sure everyone safety and well-being is good, especially with a public gathering like a Community Forum.
Just got done talking with other folks helping me plan out and decided to push the Community Forum Event to Saturday September 18th, at Mission Street Plaza in Santa Cruz (Located on the end of Mission Street, up the Hill from the Santa Cruz Clock Tower)
The Time of the Event will be held from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday, September 18th. The Intention of the event will still happen and take place with Speakers and Performers from around the Community. The Go Fund Me goal will be lowered on cost of the event and still want to look out and compensate activist, organizers and all involved with the event. As well as for their time and effort. Thank you so much to those who have contributed to the funds of the event and those who have shared this Go Fund Me page. It really means a lot and I really hope that this event can spark and create a lot of needed and better changes in the Community moving forward.
The Purpose: Very similar to A State of The Union Address, The Goal of this event will be to: 1)To Bring the community together from all walks of life, 2) Spreading awareness and addressing current community issues that are most prevalent and problematic within the last year, Reflecting on how the last year (politics, COVID, protest, social/systemic awareness) effected us as a community, 3) Reflect on the current state of our community and if we made any progress since last year, And 4) urge open-minded solutions/ action items that will help tackle the problems most prevalent in our community and help our community moving forward. Event will include guest speakers and performances.
