Life-Changing Car Accident – Anne Mullane, Mallow

At midday on Wednesday 14th September, through no fault of her own, Anne Mullane was in a serious road traffic accident while travelling from Mallow to Cork on the N20.

Anne was taken by ambulance to the Emergency Department of Cork University Hospital and the following day to the Mater Public Hospital in Dublin where she underwent spinal surgery to stabilise the burst fracture of her L1 vertebra and to attempt to repair some of the significant damage to her spinal cord.

Anne has now been transferred back to Cork University Hospital where she is engaged in a rehabilitation programme while she awaits transfer to the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire. 

Anne's injuries are complex and life-changing. Her prognosis is uncertain and evolving, but the severe damage to her spinal cord has affected her lower limbs and she is also challenged by other complications as a result of her spinal injury. Anne's rehabilitation is going to be extensive and lengthy. 

So where do you come in?

Anne's return home is dependent on major modifications to her house in order to support her new and evolving needs. Few families are equipped to meet the financial challenge that this presents, and Anne’s family need your help to cover the considerable cost of the work required to make this happen.
