Go Fund Faye – Mom's Epic Final Journey

Ofelia "Faye" Yzaguirre Gonzalez Garcia passed away on April 15th. She died peacefully, at home, with her 4 daughters and clergy at her side. Mom was many things to many people, she was a mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, healthcare worker, a healer, a spirited woman, a volunteer, a story teller, and a joker.  Mom always welcomed everyone in our home (unless you were disrespectful), she would fed the hungry, play games with the children, fix anything that needed repairing, give you a massage and put everyone's needs first. She had a youthful spirit, unconditional love, fair, strong & courageous and always took the time to tell you just how special you were.

Mom was fiercely proud of her family and not shy about spreading the word. Whether it was not having two pennies or two dimes to rub together, or a dollar in her pocket she must have said a million times that she was the richest bitch in the world. And she probably was, because the truth is that Faye measured her wealth in family.

In life, Faye would often love to travel to visit her family, all of her treasures. She would look forward to visiting her family in the mountains of Vermont and Montana and to returning to more family along the Gulf of Mexico in Florida and Alabama. On many of these trips, Rose, Mom’s eldest daughter, would take the time off work to be at her side ensuring Mom got to visit with her family.

In death, Faye's wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes spread in all of these locations. Possibly, so that her spirit can kick her family's butts if they misbehave or to closely watch over us. Rose will be taking our mother on her last journey, to honor and deliver her ashes to lay in eternal rest near all of her treasures.

We are asking for donations to help assist my sister Rose along with this sacred journey which is beginning this month. Rose was always our mother's primary caretaker, her best friend and personal driver for the last 16 years, through 2 bouts of Cancer and Alzheimer's Disease. Through the last fatal round of cancer, Rose started working less and less to care more and more for mom. Inevitably, in the last months of Mom’s life, Rose resigned from her medical coding position to be fully present to care for mother full-time. Rose ran out of options, she used all her vacation, sick, Family Medical Leave and Emergency Personal leave time. Her current situation, she has no health care and has had to dip into her Retirement fund to pay the mortgage, bills and expenses.

Any sized donation whatsoever would be a blessing and a gift to help Rose get on the road and back home to rejoin the workforce. We ask that if you can maybe help with this epic journey and help get our Mother to her final resting places, please do. And if you don't have two dimes to rub together, or to donate, that's ok; we are all the richer because of your love and care alone. Thank you.
