TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF!

On Friday, March 2, 2018 my father, Jerry Layco was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer.  My father has the biggest heart that I've ever known. He loves to fish, weld things out of the ordinary, build cars... his biggest love is his 2011 Tunrda.  As a husband and father, he is an unconditional provider.   The second oldest of 5 siblings, a father to 3 kids, and a grandfather to 4.  From each and every instance I can remember, Dad always having a radiated happy energy.  He always smiles, quick to give a witty comment or thought on any subject.  In all social events also at his work place he touched many hearts as.

We received a call on Friday March 16th, 2018 by our mom, whom was calling us from Seattle. With a heartbreaking voice she told us that Dad's in the hospital, and has Stage 4 liver cancer. His Kidneys and liver is failing. At that point everyone and anyone put their lives on hold to be with our dad. The prayers and loving support from his family and friends, have given him the grit to fight. When we finally landed, we headed straight to the Hospital where our dad was. Once we saw him, nothing but tears could come to our faces.  Physical features changed; it was evident he was losing mass, facial features became dull. Color of his skin and the white of his eyes turned slight yellow but he still smiled and his character remained in tact.

There are days when, he sleeps all day, sometimes he doesn't eat. But his spirit keeps him fighting. He walks around the room, looking out his hospital window, longing to feel the warm sun against his skin, sand between his toes, to be back home again(Hawaii, Oahu).

With the help Dr. Tori Johnson, Dr. Amy Bagatto and all the supporting staff of Seattle Bevuelle Kaiser Permanete, and Overlakes Hospital Medical Center. Our dad, Jerry Layco can make his way home to be with his family and friends.

As of today, March 26th, countless times in and out of the hospital for one month, spending 11 straight days in the hospital, a multitude of exams and tests- Dad finally gets the clear to go home. This next journey is another hurdle that he will over come, but this time it will be at home where he belongs.

With the journey that our father began with, he will keep fighting as long as were fighting along side him. Our family and friends are always there to support dad emotionally, spiritually and mentally.  In hopes with doing the Go-Fund Me, we hope to raise anything that we can to help him have home care, where he's beside his family.  Even keeping him in your prayers as well will help him get through this. We thank each and everyone of you for your generosity.
